About Us

The Bay Village City School District is located in Bay Village, Ohio, a suburban residential community in Cuyahoga County just 20 miles west of Cleveland on the shore of Lake Erie.

Our student state test scores place us consistently in the top 2-5% of all public school districts on the Ohio Report Card, and Bay High attains above average scores over state and national averages on SAT and ACT college entrance exams. Our district has been named to the prestigious Best Music Education Communities in America list since 2003. Bay High and Westerly Elementary are National Blue Ribbon Schools, and all our schools are National PTA Schools of Excellence because of strong school-family relationships.

Bay Village Schools also offers child care as well as a preschool program for preschoolers with special needs (SEED). The Glenview Center for Child Care and Learning provides before and after care for school-agers, a regular preschool and a special needs preschool program, as well as full-day care for toddlers through preschool-aged children. All child care programs are funded through individual fees.

Five square miles of more than 95 percent residential properties and tree-lined, sidewalk-lined streets are home to the district's four school buildings organized as a K-2 elementary (Normandy), 3-4 elementary (Westerly), a 5-8 middle school (Bay Middle School) and a 9-12 high school (Bay High School). The community's closeness is exemplified by the fact that each grade level stays together in the same school through high school graduation. The district serves about 2,500 students.

One Rocket Nation is a caring community that empowers students to be happy and successful.

We Believe Learning...

  • Is engaging, meaningful, purposeful and challenging.

  • Occurs in different ways, depending upon abilities, readiness and interests.

  • Takes place through research, questioning, exploring, experimenting and problem-solving.

  • Requires inclusion of reading, writing, numeracy and digital literacies in all content areas.

  • Occurs by acquiring skills, knowledge and application to other contexts.

  • Requires active social interaction and collaboration.

  • Takes place when learners are secure, valued and permitted to apply multiple solutions.

  • Includes reflection and requires students to be responsible for their learning.
