
Did You Know...? Historian Dr. Carter G. Woodson established Black History Week in 1926, choosing February because of Frederick Douglass' and Abraham Lincoln's birthday month. In 1976, Black History Week was extended to a month when President Gerald Ford issued a proclamation.
