The Board of Education voted to amend the district’s attendance policy for the 2024-25 school year, and that decision is linked here. Therefore, Bay Village Schools will reduce the number of days a student can miss school before a physician’s note is required.
That number will go from 10 days per school year, to 6 days per school year, (3 days per semester). Otherwise it will be recorded as an unexcused absence.
Bay Village Schools believes that school attendance is fundamental to a student’s success – academically, socially and emotionally – and the district knows our families agree that good attendance is important for a successful school experience.
Here is some information to consider…If a student misses two days of school each month:
They will miss 20 days of school each year.
They will miss 30 hours of math each year.
They will miss 60 hours of reading each year.
They will have missed more than one year of school by the time they graduate.
