Career Shadowing for

Bay High School Students

The Career Shadowing Program at Bay High School is open to sophomores, juniors and seniors who would like to gain first-hand knowledge of a job or career field. Students are exposed to real-life work situations, and have the opportunity to learn what a typical day is like. These one-day experiences will be in-person where permitted, otherwise career exploration will occur virtually.  Students are allowed to have two excused absences for shadowing each school year.

Any students interested in a Career Shadow Experience can contact Shadow Coordinator Teresa Costa-Borick, t.costa-borick@bayschoolsohio.org, for more information or an application.

What is Career Shadowing?

Career Shadowing is the opportunity to spend a day with a professional working in a field you are interested in.  Students will get to experience what a typical day is like and learn from real life work situations.

Are Career Shadows In-Person or Virtual?

Career Shadows will be in-person where permitted by the company or organization.  Otherwise, shadows will be conducted virtually.  Whether in-person or virtual, career shadows can be a great benefit as you begin to think about your future prior to entering college or the world of work.

Who Can Shadow?

Any sophomore, junior or senior with parent permission who is in good academic and disciplinary standing.

How Do I Sign Up?

  1. Pick up an application from Ms. Costa-Borick in her office, located in the library next to the main desk, M-Th, 9:30 a.m.-2 p.m.

  2. Complete the application and have a parent sign it to show their approval.

  3. Bring the completed application to Ms. Costa-Borick.

  4. Ms. Costa-Borick will contact you to schedule the shadow.
