The Bay Village Community Council recently named Mark Kevesdy the 2025 Citizen of the Year. Kevesdy, a longtime Bay resident and math teacher at Bay Middle School, was recognized for his many contributions to the community, most notably his efforts to raise funds to help solve the Amy Mihaljevic case. For the past five years, Mark has coordinated a memorial walk/run, raising more than $20,000 last year alone.

“Mark is the heart and soul of the annual Amy Mihaljevic Memorial Walk,” commented Amy's brother, Mark Mihaljevic. “He brought the Mihaljevic extended family together to work on this year’s event and he was a pleasure to work with — organized, knowledgeable and prepared.”

Mark has also served the city as an auxiliary police officer for the past three years and has volunteered to help integrate Ukrainian refugees into the community.

A reception for Mark Kevesdy and the St. Barnabas Community Cupboard, Project of the Year,  will be held later this year. The community will be invited to attend in celebration of the honorees.
