Principal's Welcome Message
Welcome to Bay Middle School! I am honored to serve as Principal of this dynamic school dedicated to educating students in grades 5-8.
These middle school years are important ones, with unique challenges and opportunities for our students. I am continually impressed with how our dedicated faculty and staff, our devoted parents, and our wonderful community work together to provide a caring network for our children.
Middle school students grow intellectually, socially, emotionally, and physically. They can reach developmental milestones at different times, and changes can seem to happen overnight! Our teachers, administrators, and support staff are focused on serving all of our students’ academic and emotional needs. We understand the developmental stages of this age group, and we recognize and make the most of these years for learning, self-management, and making those important friendships.
Students: I will be right beside you as you explore and achieve throughout your middle school journey. Your experiences may include:
5th grade: Creating and describing intricate Gingerbread Houses, learning about complex food webs in nature, and exploring the fundamentals of electricity.
6th grade: Participating in our exciting boat regatta, where you'll design, build, and race your own watercraft. You'll explore the world of Physics in our annual Pumpkin Chunkin Contest and learn to catapult a pumpkin across a field, combining physics and fun.
7th grade: Delving into self-discovery with our "History of Me" project, allowing you to investigate your personal and family heritage. You will also have the opportunity to visit the Westside Market and the Cleveland Zoo.
8th grade: Bringing history to life with a visit to our nation's capital and immersing yourself in the world of Shakespeare through our special theatrical experience.
Throughout your time here, you may engage in athletic and academic competitions or discover your talents in art or music. You'll serve your community in various ways, including our traditional Annual Rake Out to help our elderly residents. Each spring, you will have a chance to participate in our annual Bike to School Challenge, in which we see over 75% of our students and staff ride their bikes to school.
No matter your interests or talents, middle school is a time of growth and discovery. I look forward to supporting you every step of the way
Sincerely
Principal Sean McAndrews
