BMS Announcements:

Attention 7th and 8th Graders.

Power of the Pen is back, and the fun begins this week.  If you are a 7th or 8th grader who enjoys creative writing, please join us this Friday after school in Mrs. Goldberg's room for our first meeting of the year.  This meeting will begin around 3 and run until 3:30.  Even those students involved in fall sports can participate.

If you have any questions please see Mrs. Goldberg or Mr. Barberic.  We hope to see you there!

Thechess club is back, and there will be a short meeting with Mr. Kevesdy in room 138 of the 6th grade hallway TODAY at 3:00 p.m. See you then!

Today, we are lighting up our school with neon colors and a spirit of kindness.  One of the best ways to spread kindness is by giving a simple smile.  You’ll be surprised at how a simple smile can turn someone’s day around.

Throughout today, you can choose to join our school-wide Rock, Paper, Scissors challenge by accepting a bracelet from your first period teacher.  This bracelet indicates to others that you are in the game.  It is up to your teachers if you are allowed to play during class.  Otherwise, you can play during lunch and recess.

The game is played with three possible hand signals that represent a rock, paper, and scissors. The rock is a closed fist; paper is a flat hand; and scissors are a fist with two fingers extended. Rock wins against scissors; paper wins against rock; and scissors wins against paper. If both players throw the same hand signal, it is considered a tie, and play resumes until there is a clear winner.

If you’re wearing a bracelet, you can challenge another student with a bracelet to one simple round of rock, paper scissors.  If you win the round, you will take all the other student’s bracelets.  When you lose your bracelets, you are out of the competition, but you can watch your classmates compete!

Throughout the day, you will collect as many bracelets as you can by talking with and challenging other students.  Once a student earns 5 bracelets, they can challenge any staff member wearing a bracelet, too.

At the end of the day, we will find the top two players from each grade level, who will compete during lunch periods on Friday.

Please remember this is a game of chance and based on luck.  We expect everyone to be a fair sport, and remember that this is just for fun!

Tomorrow is our last day fo Start with Hello Week.  Celebrate picture day by dressing for a Fancy Friday!
