April is Month of the Military Child

Sponsored by the Department of Defense Military Community and Family Policy, the Month of the Military Child is a time to applaud military families and their children for the daily sacrifices they make and the challenges they overcome. The Month of the Military Child is part of the legacy left by former Defense Secretary Caspar Weinberger. He established the Defense Department commemoration in 1986.

Throughout the month of April, Bay Village Schools will, for the fourth year in a row, plan special recognition to honor military-connected children. These efforts will stress the importance of providing military-connected children and their families with quality services and support to help them succeed in the mobile military lifestyle.

Bay Village Schools has 71 military-connected students from 43 families. Of those students, here is the breakdown per building: Glenview (3); Normandy (19); Westerly (11); Bay Middle (22); and Bay High (16).
